Tips for a Long Lasting Relationship

I saw this title of an article in a magazine while I was in the checkout stand . If I can give pointers for relationships (significant other, friend, family, etc):

1. Communicate well

The other person cannot read your thoughts. Do not assume that he or she does either. It’s not fair. If you just communicated how you felt/opinions/directions/whateve, it prevents an unnecessary argument. Oh, and “A relationship is a two way street, not a one way street.”

2. Build a solid foundation.

Work on yourself before you get on a relationship, make sure you’re happy. On another note, lies will only get you so far until everything will fall apart.

3. Have fun.

Even if you’ve been with someone for ages, always try to do something new. You’ll learn something new about them (:

4. Forgive easily

Forgiving is not a weakness. Relationships are not always “rainbows and butterflies. It’s compromise that moves us along”. Do you want to remember that moment of your life as being grumpy at the person?

5. Do your own thing

It takes two people to make a relationship work. Sure, you can take advice from other people, but just because it worked with one couple or your ex, it doesn’t mean it will work for your relationship.

(Previous post made me want to publish this one)
